Westminster drops two in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla.--The Westminster softball team dropped a pair of games Monday at THE Spring Games, falling to Otterbein, 6-2, and Calvin, 8-0, in six innings.

Game 1: Otterbein 6, Westminster 2
Tied 2-2 after six innings, Otterbein went on to plate four runs in the top of the seventh to earn the win. 

Sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Coraopolis, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Sam Levac (Oakville, Ontario, Canada, Garth Webb) reached base three times with a double and a pair of walks. 

Sophomore righty Cheyenne Piper (Latrobe, Pa., Ligonier Valley) took the complete-game loss, allowing six runs (4 earned) on nine hits with one walk and a career-high 12 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. 

Game 2: Calvin 8, Westminster 0 (6 inn.)
Calvin used a four-run fourth inning to secure the run-rule victory. Junior right-hander Natalie Davis (Youngstown, Ohio, Boardman) suffered the loss in the circle, giving up six runs (6 hits) on nine hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts in 3.2 innings. 

Up next:
Tuesday, Westminster will take on Penn State Brandywine at 10 a.m. and Pitt-Greensburg at 12:15 p.m. at Legends Field.
