Harrell, Weir earn All-PAC distinction

TRAFFORD, Pa.--Westminster graduate student DJ Harrell (Cleveland, Ohio, East Technical) and senior Drew Weir (Salem, Ohio, Salem) earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Basketball distinction Wednesday night. 

Harrell was named a First Team All-PAC selection while Weir was recognized as a Second Team All-PAC pick. This is the first All-PAC award for either player. 

A guard, Harrell finished second in the league with a 21.0 points per game average. His .508 field goal percentage ranked fifth in the league while his 3.1 assists per game average was sixth. Harrell's 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio was third in the conference. His .718 free throw percentage was 10th in the league. Harrell scored 20 or more points 12 times this season and reached 30 or more points for times. He scored a season-high 36 points in an 88-82 overtime win against Grove City on Feb. 18. Harrell fired in 32 points in Westminster's win over Chatham in the semifinal round of the PAC Championship Tournament. 

Harrell was named the league's Player of the Week twice this season. 

Weir, also a guard, was 10th in the league with a 14.2 points per game average and fifth with a 7.3 rebounds per game average. His .514 field goal percentage ranked fifth among conference counterparts. Weir finished the season with six double-doubles, including a 14-point, 16-rebound effort in a 101-71 win over Penn State Shenango on Nov. 15 on the second day of the Buzz Ridl Classic. He scored a season-high 29 points in a 105-84 loss at W&J on Feb. 7. 

Senior Mick Hergenrother (Canfield, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) was named to the PAC Sportsmanship team. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes.

Led by first-year head coach David Richards, Westminster entered the season as the No. 1 preseason choice in the PAC's North Division in the league's annual coaches' poll. The Titan wrapped up the season with a 19-9 overall record and secured the North Division's top seed in the PAC Championship Tournament with a 12-4 conference record. Westminster scored an 80-76 win over Saint Vincent in the quarterfinals before securing an 81-79 victory over Chatham, last year's conference champion, in the semifinal round. The Titans were edged 68-61 by W&J in the title game on Feb. 28.
