Westminster suffers home loss to Penn State Behrend

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision to visiting Penn State Behrend Monday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 through two, junior Nate Demchak (Monroeville, Pa., Gateway) singled to lead off the third, and after stealing second, scored on junior Quinn Marquis' (Hinckley, Ohio, Highland) RBI base hit to tie the game at 1-1. Behrend scored four runs in the top of the seventh, keyed by Thomas Nicely's pinch hit, two-run single.

Marquis went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base at the top of the order. Freshman Breckin Minich (New Bethlehem, Pa., Redbank Valley) was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Junior Braden Zeigler's (New Castle, Pa., Shenango) base hit in the seventh stretched his hitting streak to eight games.

Freshman Jacob Harrelson (Canal Fulton, Ohio, Green) took a no-decision, working 5.0 innings and allowing one run (earned) on four hits with three strikeouts. Sophomore Ty Carrier (New Bethlehem, Pa., Redbank Valley) threw a pair of scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three in the seventh and eighth.
