Titans finish third at The Pennsylvania Classic

Rankin registers runner-up finish

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--The Westminster women's golf team finished in third place at The Pennsylvania Classic Sunday. 

The two-round event, hosted by Penn State Altoona, was played on Penn State's White Course. 

Washington & Jefferson won the team title at the 11-team event, posting a two-day score of 661 (331-330). Susquehanna was second (668, 338-330). Westminster finished with a team score of 673, following Saturday's 342 with a 331 on Sunday.  

Susquehanna's Kennedy Petrovich was medalist with a two-round score of 148. She shot a one-under 71 on Saturday before a five-over 77 on Sunday. 

Junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) was runner-up with a two-day total of 153. She shot a 77 Saturday and a 76 Sunday. 

Senior Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) tied for 10th with a 168 (85-83) while sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) and freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) finished in a three-way tie for 17th (176). Liburdi followed Saturday's 92 with an 84 on Sunday. Morgan shot an 88 both days. Senior Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) was 34th (192, 96-96). 

Westminster has three players competing as individuals. Freshmen Brooke Hart (Meadville, Pa., Meadville) finished 25th with a 185 (95-90). Freshman Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) tied for 37th (194, 99-95) while freshman Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tied for 45th (202, 103-99). 

Up next:
Westminster is scheduled to participate in the Greenbriar Collegiate Invitational Monday-Tuesday, April 6-7. The two-day event, hosted by Southern Virginia, is being held at The Greenbrier in White Sulfur Springs, W.Va.
