Westminster women in third at The Pennsylvania Classic

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--The Westminster women's golf team sits in third place after the opening round of The Pennsylvania Classic.

The two-round event, hosted by Penn State Altoona, is being played on Penn State's White Course.

Washington & Jefferson leads the 11-team event with a combined score of 331. Susquehanna is in second place (338). Westminster finished Saturday's round with a 342.

Junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) is currently in second place after shooting a five-over 77. Senior Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) is tied for 10th after an opening-round 85. Freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) is in a four-way tie for 13th (88) while sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) is tied for 21st (92). Senior Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) is in a three-way tie for 30th (96).

Westminster has three players competing as individuals. Freshmen Brooke Hart (Meadville, Pa., Meadville) is in a three-way tie for 27th (95). Freshman Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) is tied with two players for 40th (99) while freshman Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) is tied for 48th (105).
