Westminster rolls in league win over Bethany

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Sophomore Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) registered his 100th career point while 17 different players scored goals in Friday night's 26-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Bethany at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster improved to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the PAC. Friday was the program's first-ever shutout. 

Kurtz finished with six points on four goals and two assists. His 100th point came on an assist to freshman Tyler Walkiewicz (Hopkinton, Mass., Hopkinton) with just under 14 minutes left in the second quarter. Through 20 career games, Kurtz has totaled 102 points on 76 goals and 26 assists.

Freshman Brendan Robinson (Gainesville, Va., Gainesville) had six points on three goals and three assists. It was his fourth game with three or more goals in the last five. Robinson added four ground balls. 

Sophomore Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) went 15-of-18 from the faceoff circle and added seven ground balls. Senior Marshal Maguire (Arlington, Va., Wakefield) and freshman Gianni DiSora (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) finished with five ground balls apiece. Senior Shawn Wooles (Hampton, N.H., Winnacunnet) had three caused turnovers.

Westminster finished with a 55-11 advantage in shots and a 37-3 edge in shots on goal. Westminster was successful on all 18 of its clear attempts.

Westminster will travel to Pittsburgh Wednesday to face Chatham. The opening faceoff from UPMC Graham Field is set for 4 p.m.
