Men's lacrosse falls at Chatham

PITTSBURGH--The Westminster men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-5 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss at Chatham Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Graham Field. 

Freshman Brendan Robinson (Gainesville, Va., Gainesville) scored the game's first two goals. Even at 2-2 after a quarter, Chatham strung together four-straight goals to start the second before Robison scored with under five and a half minutes to go cut the deficit to 6-3. Chatham built an 8-3 lead at the break, scoring twice with under two minutes to go. 

Westminster (6-6, 1-3 PAC) and Chatham (7-3, 2-1 PAC) both scored twice in the third quarter. Chatham concluded the scoring with a pair of goals in the fourth. 

Robinson finished with four goals while senior Kyler Nigliazzo (Montgomery, Texas, Magnolia West) scored once. Sophomores Paul DiPasquale (Woodbine, Md., Glenelg) and Nickolas Stump (Latrobe, Pa., Greater Latrobe) and freshman Garrett Henning (Irwin, Pa., Norwin) each had one assist. 

Sophomore Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) went 6-of-15 on faceoffs and added six ground balls. Freshman Aiden Renick (Sarasota, Fla., Riverview) finished wih three ground balls and one caused turnover. 

Chatham outshot Westminster 50-23 and had a 26-18 shots on goal advantage. Chatham went 12-for-16 on clears while Westminster was 21-of-32.

Westminster hosts Franciscan (4-6, 1-2 PAC) next Wednesday. The opening faceoff from the UPMC Sports Complex is set for 7 p.m.
