Westminster opens spring season with 4-3 victory over Franciscan

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Junior Hayden Kenny (Pittsburgh, Pa., Keystone Oaks) sealed Westminster's 4-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) men's tennis victory over Franciscan with a win at No. 4 singles Thursday afternoon. 

The win was Westminster's first-ever against Franciscan. The Titans entered the match 0-9 all-time against the Barons. 

Westminster took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. 

Freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant) tied the match at 3-3 with a win at No. 3 singles, defeating David Bourdelais 6-4, 7-5. Kenny scored a 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-4 win over David Drejza to secure the match victory. 

Up next:
Westminster (1-2, 1-0 PAC) is scheduled to host Thiel on Saturday. Doubles action will begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday's match will serve as the program's Senior Recognition Day.
