Westminster suffers loss to Allegheny

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Westminster fell to visiting Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Allegheny 75-68 Wednesday night at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. 

Graduate student DJ Harrell (Cleveland, Ohio, East Technical) led Westminster with 19 points, three rebounds and four assists. He scored 12 in the second half. Harrell has scored 15 or more points in 12-straight games. Senior Trey DePietro (Boardman, Ohio, Boardman) finished with 10 points and six rebounds while freshman Nick Ryan (Warren, Ohio, John F. Kennedy) added nine points and 13 rebounds. 

Allegheny (8-12, 6-5 PAC) had five players finish in double figures. Pijus Latauskas posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double. 

Westminster (13-7, 8-3 PAC) closed the first half on a 9-0 run to cut Allegheny's lead to four, 43-39, going into the half. Allegheny ran its second half lead to as many as 10, 74-64, with just over a minute left in regulation. 

The Gators shot 49 percent (25-51) from the floor and went 11-of-22 (.500) from three-point range. Westminster had a 42-34 advantage on the glass.

Westminster will travel to W&J (15-5, 8-3 PAC) Saturday. Tipoff from inside the Salvitti Family Gymnasium is set for 3 p.m. The Presidents secured an 81-77 win over visiting Franciscan Wednesday.
