Three players score in Westminster's 4-1 win over Saint Francis

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Three players scored for the Westminster women's soccer team, including a two-goal effort by freshman Amelia Brose (Houston, Pa., Chartiers-Houston), in Friday evening's 4-1 victory over Saint Francis at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster improved to 7-1-3 with the win, while Saint Francis fell to 3-5-1 overall.

Senior Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville) put the Titans in front in the 27th minute, scoring off freshman Madeline Barr's (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) assist for a 1-0 lead. It was Gratchic's fourth goal of the year, while the assist was Barr's first this season. Earlier, senior Emily Codere (Shelton, Conn., Shelton) kept Saint Francis off the board with five saves during a busy opening stretch. The Titans added four shots after Gratchic's goal and took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Westminster opened the second half with back-to-back Brose goals. The first, assisted by Gratchic, was in the 46th minute. The second came in the 56th minute. Brose now has seven goals this season. It was her second two-goal match this year (at Bethany, 09/18/26). Codere made several saves as Saint Francis generated pressure in the half before Saint Francis' Reagan Truxillo scored in the 77th minute. Barr answered in the 81st minute, scoring off freshman Quinn Arnold's (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) assist. The goal was Barr's fourth, while the assist was Arnold's sixth this season.

Codere finished with a career-high13 saves, stopping five shots in the first half and eight in the second.

Saint Francis finished with advantages in shots, 32-13, and shots on goal, 14-8.
