Westminster snags straight-set win at Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va.--Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) finished with 10 kills while posting a .471 attack percentage Saturday in Westminster College's straight-set win over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Bethany Saturday morning on the Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse. 

Saturday's match featured just five ties and a single lead change in the third. The Titans won 25-10, 25-16 and 25-17. 

Westminster ran its overall record to 10-6 while evening its PAC record at 2-2 with the victory. Bethany dropped to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in league action. 

Rambo's 10 kills came on just 17 swings. Saturday was her fifth match this season with double-digit kills. She added four blocks, upping her season total to 37. Freshman Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) finished with eight kills and eight digs and added a pair of blocks. Senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) was credited with 15 assists and nine digs while junior Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) totaled 13 assists and nine digs. Junior Meredith Hart (New Waterford, Ohio, Crestview), making her first career start, chipped in defensively with eight digs. 

Up next:
Westminster will will travel to defending PAC champion Allegheny Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match before welcoming W&J to Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
