Men's soccer falls 3-1 to Geneva

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's soccer team was dealt a 3-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss by visiting Geneva Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster fell to 0-7-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the PAC. Geneva, winners of three straight, upped its overall record to 3-5 and improved to 2-0 in league action. 

Gabe Sing scored his first goal of the season in the 15th minute for Geneva off of a Wil Dunda assist. George Cottenden followed up in the 30th minute with his second goal of the year, scoring off a Luke Kost assist. The Golden Tornadoes outshot the Titans 8-2 in the first 45 minutes and carried a 2-0 lead into intermission. 

Freshman David Lord (Boca Raton, Fla., Saint John Paul II Academy) scored the Titans' first goal in 23 days, heading in his first career goal in the 74th minute off of junior Orrin Milcic's (Butler, Pa., Homeschooled (Knoch)) corner kick.  

Geneva regained its two-goal lead when Dunda fired his fifth goal of the year in the 87th minute, scoring off a Luke Main assist. 

Junior Aaron Snyder (Hatboro, Pa., Upper Moreland) finished the match with a pair of saves for Westminster. Noah Buchann stopped four shots for Geneva. 

Geneva outshot Westminster 17-8 while Westminster finished with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Five of the Titans' shots on goal came in the final 45 minutes. The Golden Tornadoes had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Westminster will conclude its four-match run at the UPMC Sports Complex Wednesday, hosting Hiram (5-3-1, 1-0-1 PAC) at 5 p.m.
