Westminster suffers league loss to Hiram

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's soccer team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match to visiting Hiram 3-0 Wednesday evening at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster fell to 0-8-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the PAC. Hiram, unbeaten in its last five (4-0-1), improved to 6-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the league. 

Colin Casey scored a pair of goals for Hiram. He opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a goal off an assist from Jimmy Zeilmann before a Matthew Cederbloom goal, assisted by Chance McGinniss, in the 43rd minute. Casey netted his second in the 63rd minute. 

Hiram outshot Westminster 18-14 and also had the edge in shots on goal, 9-4. Both sides generated three corner kicks. 

Derek Ufholz made five saves to help Hiram secure its fifth-straight shutout. 

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Steubenville, Ohio and Trinity Health System Field Saturday to take on Franciscan (5-6, 3-0 PAC). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
