Westminster runs away with team title at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's golf team won the team title at the Saint Vincent Invitational Monday afternoon.

The six-team event was played at Latrobe Country Club. Westminster won with a team score of 359. Host Saint Vincent was second (378) and Grove City was third (393). Geneva's Madison Sharek was the medalist after carding a 10-over 82.

Junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) and freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) finished in a three-way tie for third with 87's. Sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) was sixth with an 89 and senior Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) finished tied for 12th with a 96. Freshman Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) finished in a three-way tie for 22nd (106).

Senior Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic), graduate student Gianna Effinite (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) and freshman Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) all played as individuals. Kana tied for seventh with a score of 91 while Effinite finished tied for 19th (104) and Ponteous finished tied for 39th (124).

Westminster will travel to Allegheny's Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Invitational Sunday and Monday. The two-day event is being held at the Country Club of Meadville.
