Titans take two on Saturday

WOOSTER, Ohio--The Westminster College women's volleyball team seized a pair of victories Saturday at Wooster's Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, rolling in a three-set win against Pitt-Greensburg before capping its 4-0 weekend run with a four-set defeat of Wooster. 

Westminster, winners of four straight, improved to 7-4 this season with Saturday's victories. Senior Jamie Robertson (Los Angeles, Calif., Palisades Charter) was named to the all-tournament team.

Sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) hit .412 in the sweep, finishing with eight kills on 17 attacks. She added 12 assists, seven digs and a pair of blocks. Senior Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) and sophomore Megan Darno (Beaver Falls, Pa., Blackhawk) had five kills each. Robertson totaled four kills, five blocks and three assists. 

The Titans had 13 service aces against the Bobcats, their most in a match since finishing with 13 in a four-set win over Fredonia State on Sept. 13, 2024. 

Paige Phillips and Abigail Smulik each had five kills for Pitt-Greensburg (1-9).

The Titans overcame a first set loss for the third time in four weekend matches Saturday against the host Scots (3-7). Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) registered a season-high 13 kills against Wooster while adding four blocks. Senior Rachel LaSalvia (Columbus, Pa., Corry) posted an 11-kill, 19-dig double-double, her second of the year. The 19 digs also matched her career high. Junior Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) had eight kills and a season-high 20 digs while Burgan finished with eight kills. Robertson hit .538 with seven kills on 13 swings. She added four blocks and three service aces. Senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) had 20 assists and seven digs while junior Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) had 17 assists and 19 digs, marking her second double-double of the season. Sophomore Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) finished with 25 digs and three service aces. 

Jordan Laraway led Wooster with nine kills.
