Men finish eighth at Olivet's Lou Collins Memorial Tournament

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.- The Westminster College men's golf program registered an eighth-place finish at the University of Olivet's Lou Collins Memorial Tournament Saturday afternoon. 

The two-day, 10-team event was held at the Bedford Valley Country Club. Kalamazoo won the event with a team score of 621, following up Friday's 308 with a 313 on Saturday. Albion was second with a 624 (310-314). Westminster combined for a 646. The Titans shot a 331 Saturday after a 315 on Friday. 

Rochester Christian's Daniel Runkel topped the 55-player leaderboard with a six-over 150. He fired a pair of 75's. 

Junior Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) finished in a four-way tie for fifth with a 156. He fired a one-over 73 Friday and an 83 on Saturday. 

Junior Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) tied for 26th with a 161, shooting a second day 79 after his 82 on Friday. Freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant) tied for 32nd with a 164, following up Friday's 79 with an 85. Senior Joshua Furman (Jefferson, Ohio, Jefferson) tied for 43rd with a 170. He shot an 89 on Saturday after carding an 81 Friday. Freshman Brody Pirt (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) tied for 45th with a 172. He shot an 84 on Saturday after an opening-round 88.

Freshman Aiden Barker (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood), competing as an individual, was 49th with a 181. He fired an 88 Saturday after posting a 93 on Friday. 

Next:
Westminster will compete in the Saint Vincent Invitational on Monday, Sept. 8. The event, scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m., is being held at the Latrobe Country Club.
