Three named Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.--The Westminster College baseball program had three players named as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® selections Tuesday afternoon.

Graduate student Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley), along with rising juniors Parker Lyons (Rochester, Pa., Rochester) and Quinn Marquis (Hinckley, Ohio, Highland), were recognized. 

The Academic All-District® Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 17.

Murgenovich, a second baseman, was named Second Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) for the third time in his career (2022-23). He was Honorable Mention All-PAC in 2021. Murgenovich hit .304 with nine doubles, two triples, two home runs, 21 RBIs and 35 runs scored in 40 starts this season. He had 13 multi-hit games this season and finished the year reaching base safely in 17-straight games. Murgenovich, a .301 career hitter, is the program's all-time leader in hits (224), runs (150), doubles (46) and at-bats (743). He graduated with a 3.90 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. A five-time Dean's List honoree, Murgenovich was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll three times. This was his second time named as an Academic All-District® selection. 

A third baseman, Lyons earned First Team All-PAC for the first time in his career. He made 39 starts (40 appearances) this season, hitting .371 with five doubles, 18 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Lyons was also successful on 16 of his 19 stolen base attempts. He finished the year with 19 multi-hit games, including a four-hit performance in the April 4 game one win at Washington & Jefferson College. Lyons drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single in the top half of the ninth. An early childhood and special education major, he carries a 3.64 cumulative GPA. Lyons has been named to the College's Dean's List twice and the PAC Academic Honor Roll once.

Marquis, a center fielder, hit .284 with five doubles, three triples, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 30 starts (31 appearances) this year. He finished the year with 10 multi-hit games this season, including a three-hit game in a 9-8 win over La Roche University on March 3. It was the first three-hit game of his career. A business administration major, Marquis carries a 3.82 cumulative GPA. He is a three-time Dean's List selection and has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll once. 

Academic Standing:
  • Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
  • Student-athletes must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. Only the school at which an athlete competed in the current academic year can nominate that player.
  • Student-athletes who have graduated from their own institution during the current academic year and are not competing in athletics at another institution at the time of nomination are eligible.
  • An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a graduate student, unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
  • The cumulative grade-point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.
Athletic Eligibility: Sport-specific Nomination Criteria
  • BASEBALL--Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances OR pitched 35 innings.

Led by sixth-year head coach Patrick Riley, Westminster has made four-straight appearances in the league's championship tournament, earning spots in the title game in 2022 and 2025. The Titans concluded their season with a 19-22 overall record and an 11-9 mark in the PAC.
