TRAFFORD, Pa.--Recent Westminster College graduate Gavin Jones (Henrico, Va., Douglas S. Freeman) was named a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April.

A member of Westminster's men's lacrosse program, Jones joins Chatham University senior Syba Ismail, a standout women's lacrosse player for the Cougars, as the PAC SAAC's April honorees.

Each month, the SAAC groups at PAC member institutions are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must be varsity team members in their respective sport and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within their campus communities.

Jones, a midfielder, was recognized by USA Lacrosse as a Division III Preseason All-America selection on Feb. 5. Named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week twice (Feb. 24, April 21) this year, he led the PAC with a single-season program record 70 goals and program-record 96 (70G, 26A). He was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Team of Week in late February after finishing with seven points on five goals and two assists in Westminster's season-opening victory at Wittenberg University. A three-time All-PAC selection, Jones is the program's all-time goals leader, with 195, and points leader, with 266. He has appeared in 69 career games, making 53 starts.

Jones totaled 47 points on 32 goals and 15 assists during Westminster's 5-3 regular season April run. He added 16 ground balls and caused seven turnovers.

A seven-time Dean's List honoree, Jones graduated summa cum laude on May 10 with bachelor's degrees in accounting, finance and business administration and finished his career with a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). He has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll three times and claimed College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors after the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Jones was a representative with Westminster's SAAC and served as vice president with the PAC SAAC. He represents the PAC at the national level as a member of the Division III National SAAC. On campus, Jones is a part of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

Westminster concluded its season in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament title game on May 11, falling to Goucher College 14-6. Westminster finished its season with an overall record of 10-9 and a conference record of 5-3.
