Westminster men win Thiel Invitational

HERMITAGE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's golf program edged Washington & Jefferson College for the team title at Saturday's Thiel College Spring Invitational.

The 10-team event was held at the Avalon at Buhl Park Country Club. Westminster combined to shoot a 306, finishing four strokes ahead of W&J.

Senior Logan Marnik (Carnegie, Pa., Chartiers Valley) fired a one-over 71 to earn medalist honors at the 53-player event. Senior Portland Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) tied for fourth place with a five-over 75. Sophomores Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) and Nathan Feltmeyer (Waterford, Pa., Fort Le Boeuf) tied for 18th with each shooting 80's. Graduate student Kai Haseyama (Encinitas, Calif., San Dieguito Academy) finished in a five-way tie for 37th with an 87.

Junior Joshua Furman (Jefferson, Ohio, Jefferson), playing as an individual, tied for 45th place with an 89.

Up Next:
Westminster will participate in the Win Palmer Cup, hosted by Wittenberg University, on Monday and Tuesday. The event is being hosted by the Allegheny Country club in Sewickley.
