Men's lacrosse scores road win at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio--A balanced offensive attack led the Westminster College men's lacrosse team to a 16-4 victory over Muskingum University Wednesday night at the North Athletic Turf Field. 

Westminster improved to 3-1. Muskingum fell to 2-3. The Titans are 2-0 it the series with the Muskies, winning 9-3 in New Wilmington Feb. 26, 2022. 

Senior midfielder Gavin Jones (Henrico, Va., Douglas S. Freeman) and graduate midfielder Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, Md., Loyola Blakefield) each finished with four goals and three assists. Jones had two ground balls while Sentz added one. Senior attackman Jonas Clark (Montgomery Village, Md., Watkins Mill) had six points, finishing with a career-high five goals to go along with an assist. He added one ground ball and one caused turnover.

Senior long-stick midfielder Brody McGuinness (Heber City, Utah, Wasatch) scored one goal, picked up seven ground balls and caused one turnover while graduate defender David Evangelista (Pittsburgh, Pa., Chartiers Valley) finished with five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior short-stick defensive midfielder Jahiem Hawkins (Huntington Station, N.Y., Huntington) totaled four ground balls and one caused turnover while junior short-stick defensive midfielder Asher Silberling (Redondo Beach, Calif., Redondo Union) had two ground balls and three caused turnovers. 

Freshman Nolan Grieshaber (Rocklin, Calif., Rocklin) improved to 3-1 in goal this season. He finished with eight saves. 

The Titans jumped out to a 6-1 lead after one quarter. Clark and Sentz had two goals apiece in the first. Westminster scored the first five goals of the second and went into the break up nine, 11-2. Jones, Clark and Sentz all scored third quarter goals to help the Titans to a 14-3 advantage after three. Clark's man-up score with five seconds left in the fourth closed out the scoring. 

Westminster put 24 of its 37 shots on goal and went 26-of-30 on clear attempts.

Westminster travels to Capital University Saturday. The opening faceoff from Bernlohr Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
