Westminster wins at Geneva

CHIPPEWA, Pa.--The Westminster College women's lacrosse program won its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener 24-2 against Geneva College Saturday afternoon on Wright Fields at Veterans Park.

Westminster improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the PAC. Geneva fell to 0-6 and 0-1 in the league. 

Junior attacker Julia Ravazza (Twain Harte, Calif., Dublin) set a new single-game assists record, finishing with 10 against the Golden Tornadoes. She eclipsed the previous record held by Westminster's current head coach Bria Braddock (2016-20), who had six at Waynesburg University on April 17, 2019. Ravazza added three goals, three ground balls and one caused turnover.

Freshman midfielder Allyssa Anstis (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) scored a career-high six goals and added two assists and six draw controls while junior attacker Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell) struck for five points on four goals and an assist. Junior attacker Chloe Courinos (Beaver Falls, Pa., Blackhawk) finished with three goals and an assist while senior midfielder Felicia Young (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) chipped in with three goals and eight draw controls. 

Freshman defender Keely Jackson (Chardon, Ohio, Chardon) posted career highs with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder Ava Kessler (White Oak, Pa., Norwin) score once and added two ground balls, one caused turnover and nine draw controls.

Sophomore Falyn Snyder (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air) made six saves. 

Westminster went up 8-1 after the first quarter with Young and Wentzel each scoring twice. Anstis scored three of her six goals in the second quarter and Ravazza scored twice to give the Titans a 15-1 lead at half. Courinos scored all three of her goals in the third before Westminster registered a 4-0 scoring margin in the fourth. 

Westminster outshot Geneva 44-8, had the advantage in shots on goal, 31-8 and went 14-of-15 on clears.
