Westminster falls in five in PAC semifinals

HIRAM, Ohio--The Westminster College women's volleyball program went the full five sets for the 11th time this season, falling in Thursday night's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament semifinal matchup to Hiram inside Price Gymnasium. 

Westminster, the No. 3 seed in the PAC's North Division, wrapped up its schedule with a 20-11 overall record. Thursday was the third time this season a Westminster-Hiram match went five sets. Hiram (26-2), the North's No. 1 seed, will host Grove City (19-6), the No. 4 seed in the North, in the PAC Championship Tournament title match on Saturday. Grove City earned a straight-set win at Thiel (17-9), the No. 2 seed in the North, Thursday night. 

Hiram won the first set, 25-15, before Westminster took the second and third sets, 25-15 and 25-19. Hiram claimed a 25-15 third set win before holding on for a 15-12 win in the fifth. 

Junior Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) paced the Westminster offense with 17 kills. She added 16 digs for her ninth double-double of the year. Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) hit .524 with 12 kills on 21 attacks. She added five digs and three total blocks. Freshman Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) added eight kills and a career-high 24 digs. Sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) registered a career-high 30 assists to go along with seven kills, 14 digs and a pair of blocks. It was her eighth double-double of the year. Seniors Jamie Robertson (Los Angeles, Calif., Palisades Charter) and Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) had six kills each. Robertson added three kills and three total blocks while Bergan chipped in defensively with five digs and three blocks. Senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) finished with 17 assists and eight digs. Freshman Halle Albers (Corry, Pa., Corry) added 14 digs. 

Morgan Tomblin hit .396 with a career-high 24 kills on 48 attacks for Hiram. Maggie Riley finished with 17-kill, 11-dig double-double. Kelly Hoffman had 59 assists and 18 digs.
