Westminster earns five-set win at Saint Vincent, straight-set victory over Pitt-Greensburg

LATROBE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball program posted a five-set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Saint Vincent before it claimed a straight-set win over Pitt-Greensburg Saturday afternoon inside the Robert S. Carey Center. 

Westminster upped its overall record to 17-10 while improving to 8-6 in the PAC. The Titans have played nine five-set matches this season. Saturday was their fourth five-set win of the year. 

After its 26-24 opening-set win, Westminster dropped the second, 25-17. A 25-19 winner in the third set, the Titans fell in the fourth, 27-25. Saint Vincent forced three ties in the fifth, but Westminster managed to hold on for the 15-13 match-clinching win. 

Sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) registered her third triple-double of the season against the Bearcats, totaling a career-high 15 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs. O'Brien added three block assists. She hit .303. Junior Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) finished with 16 kills and a season-high 21 digs, her sixth double-double of the year. Senior Jamie Robertson (Los Angeles, Calif., Palisades Charter) hit .440 with 12 kills on 25 attempts to go along with four total blocks. Seniors Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) and Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) had eight kills each. Rambo also added five block assists and six digs while Bergan totaled two block assists and three digs. 

Senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) finished with a season-high 28 assists and 12 digs for her fifth double-double this year. She added three service aces. Freshmen Mackenzie Ging (Canton, Ohio, Glenoak) and b(Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) added 16 and 15 digs, respectively. 

Fifteen players saw action in the nightcap against Pitt-Greensburg, which the Titans won 25-13, 25-10 and 25-17. Anthony finished with eight kills and 10 digs while Robertson added six kills and five service aces. Junior Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) had 14 assists, four digs and six aces. Junior Maggie Shadle (Marion Center, Pa., Marion Center) and freshman Halle Albers (Corry, Pa., Corry) finished with seven digs apiece.

Up next:
Westminster will host PAC North rival Thiel (16-6, 11-3 PAC) Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. Wednesday is also Faculty Appreciation Night.
