Westminster falls at Grove City in five

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball program was dealt a five-set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss by rival Grove City Wednesday night at the Grove City College Arena. 

With Wednesday's setback, Westminster fell to 15-10 overall and 7-6 in the PAC. Grove City, winners of five-straight matches, improved to 16-6 overall and 8-5 in the league.

The Titans took the opening set 25-22 before the Wolverines ripped off wins in the second and third, 25-13 and 25-14. A 25-21 winner in the fourth, Westminster dropped the pivotal fifth set 15-7.

Sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) finished with 10 kills, 11 assists, eight digs and 1.5 blocks. Freshman Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) added 10 kills and eight digs. It was her fourth match of the season with double-digit kills. Senior Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) had eight kills, three digs and a pair of block assists while senior Rachel LaSalvia (Columbus, Pa., Corry) totaled eight kills and two digs. Junior Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) had six kills and 17 digs. 

Senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) finished with 22 assists and nine digs. Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) totaled four kills and three total blocks. 

Sarah Hart had 17 kills for Grove City. Alayna Dorst added 14 kills and 19 digs. 

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Latrobe for a tri-match Saturday, taking on host Saint Vincent (6-11, 5-8 PAC) at 1 p.m. and Pitt-Greensburg (2-22) at 3 p.m. inside the Robert S. Carey Student Center.
