Westminster scores draws with Allegheny

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Freshman Zoe Puhala (Brockway, Pa., Brockway) scored in the 81st minute to help the Westminster College women's soccer program earn a 1-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) draw with Allegheny Wednesday evening at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster snapped a three-match losing streak with the draw. The Titans are 1-8-4 overall and 1-4-2 in the PAC. 

After a scoreless first half, Allegheny's (4-6-5, 2-1-3) Sydney Nichols gave the visiting Gators a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute, scoring off Karley Johnson's assist. Puhala netted the equalizer off a rebound in the 81st minute to knot the match at 1-all. It was the first goal of her career.

Senior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) finished with eight saves for Westminster.

Allegheny outshot Westminster 20-7 and had a 9-6 edge in shots on goal. Allegheny managed four corner kicks to Westminster's two.

Westminster travels to take on Saint Vincent (11-2-1, 5-1-1 PAC) Saturday. Kickoff from UPMC Field is scheduled for 5 p.m.
