Westminster falls in five-setter at Chatham

PITTSBURGH--The Westminster College women's volleyball program suffered a five-set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) interdivisional loss at Chatham Saturday afternoon inside the Athletic & Fitness Center (AFC). 

Westminster, now 12-8 overall and 4-4 in the league, competes as a member of the PAC's six-school North Division. Chatham, a part of the six-team South Division, improved to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference. 

Chatham took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-19 before Westminster stormed back with a 25-23 win in the third and a 26-24 triumph in the fourth to force a fifth set. The Cougars claimed a 15-6 win the match-deciding fifth. 

Freshman Kylie Anthony (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) hit .286 and finished with a career-high 14 kills. She added 13 digs for her second double-double of the season. Junior Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) had nine kills and 17 digs while sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) finished with eight kills, 22 assists, 10 digs and three blocks. 

Seniors Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) and Jamie Robertson (Los Angeles, Calif., Palisades Charter) registered six kills and four blocks each. Junior Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) finished with 10 assists and 15 digs while senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) added nine assists and eight digs. Junior Meredith Hart (New Waterford, Ohio, Crestview) totaled a career-high 23 digs. Anthony and freshman Mackenzie Ging (Canton, Ohio, Glenoak) had three service aces apiece.

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Hiram (15-2, 7-1 PAC) Wednesday. The match is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
