Westminster drops 3-0 verdict to Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to visiting Grove City Friday evening at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Westminster fell to 0-10-3 overall and 0-4-2 in the PAC. Grove City, winners of three straight, pushed its overall record to 8-2-2 and improved to 5-0-1 in the conference. 

Noah Gray scored in the 18th minute for Grove City off a Matt Herrmann assist. Gray netted his second of the evening, and league-leading 12th of the year, on a 25th minute penalty kick. Up 2-0 at the break, Grove City added its third score in the 68th minute when Ryan Merrick headed in a goal off a Luke Kimmich corner kick. It was Merrick's third goal this season. 

Grove City doubled up Westminster in shots, 16-8, and shots on goal, 10-5. The Wolverines were awarded seven corners to the Titans' two. 

Senior Noah Wolford (Butler, Pa., Butler) made seven saves for Westminster. 

Up next:
Westminster will host Allegheny (4-6-4, 2-2-1) Wednesday. The match is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m.
