Westminster blanked by Denison

PITTSBURGH--The Westminster College women's soccer program suffered a 2-0 loss to Denison University Saturday afternoon at Carnegie Mellon University's DoubleTree Hotel and Suites Pittsburgh Downtown Tartan Cup. 

Denison is 2-1 this season and will play No. 20 William Smith College Sunday at 12 p.m. Westminster, now 1-1, will face host and 19th-ranked Carnegie Mellon Sunday at 2:30 p.m. 

The match was scoreless at halftime. Denison had a 4-3 advantage in first half shots, including a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. 

Caroline Flynn scored in the 63rd minute off an Isabella Guzman assist. Ten minutes later, Megan Mulvey scored off Eliza Roach's assist to up the lead to 2-0. 

Denison outshot Westminster 11-4 and had six shots on goal compared to the Titans' two. Denison had six corner kicks while Westminster had two. The Titans did not attempt a corner kick in the second half. 

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) finished with four saves. Senior forward Allie Augustine (Cortland, Ohio, Lakeview) and senior midfielder Mackenzie Powell (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) both had a shot on goal.
