Women's tennis blanks Waynesburg

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis program shut out Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg University 7-0 Thursday afternoon. 

Westminster improved its record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Waynesburg fell to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the PAC. 

Seniors Emma Sukal (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa., Villa Maria Academy) notched a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles against Julia Luzar and Julia Umshares. At No. 2 doubles, sophomore Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and senior Taylor Dlugozima (Volant, Pa., Wilmington) beat Karly Starcher and Claire Lace 6-1 while sophomore Morgan Allen (Johnstown, Pa., Westmont Hilltop) and junior Grace Askey (Dubois, Pa., Jeff Tech) had a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Alli Bailey and Aubrey Burns

Sukal earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Luzar while Valone registered a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Umshares at No. 2 singles. Overlingas won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles over Starcher and Allen scored a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Bailey. Dlugozima won 6-0, 6-1 over Lace at No. 5 singles and Askey rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles over Burns.

Sukal and Overlingas both improved to 6-0 in singles this season while Allen improved to 5-0. 

Westminster will host Franciscan University next Tuesday. The match is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
