Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Eight score in men's soccer win

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's soccer program had eight players score in its 9-1 victory over Pitt-Bradford Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster improved its record to 3-2-2 while Pitt-Bradford fell to 0-6. 

Senior forward Brady Robison (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) scored off an assist from senior forward Lucas Toohey (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant) two minutes into the match. Senior forward Connor Schmidt (Evans City, Pa., Seneca Valley) scored on a free kick two minutes later and Toohey scored at the six-minute mark off a Robison assist. Freshman forward Santiago Fernandez (Lake City, Fla., Freedom) netted his first collegiate goal unassisted in the 25th minute, pushing Westminster's lead to 4-0. 

Kyle Carlsen scored an unassisted goal 33 minutes into the first half for the Panthers.

Freshman forward Steven Morrison (Orlando, Fla., Jones) scored with under 10 minutes left in the first half off an assist from freshman midfielder Nisho Simon (Kapolei, Hawaii, Mililani). Three minutes later, Fernandez scored his second of the day off a Morrison assist to give Westminster a 6-1 lead going into the break. 

Senior midfielder Mason Baldwin (Seven Fields, Pa., Seneca Valley) scored his first goal of the season 15 minutes into the second half off another Robison assist. Freshman defender Austin Haywood (Catonsville, Md., Catonsville) scored his first collegiate goal with 10 minutes left in the game off a Fernandez assist. Junior defender Robert Bootay IV (Pleasant Hills , Pa., Seton LaSalle) capped the scoring with his first collegiate goal with two minutes left in the match. It was assisted by senior defender Joshua Glaser (Indiana, Pa., Indiana).

Sophomore Aaron Snyder (Hatboro, Pa., Upper Moreland) and senior Noah Wolford (Butler, Pa., Butler) split time in net. Wolford had two first half saves in the win. Michael Riedel and Troy VanSickle also split time for Pitt-Bradford. Reidel had five first half saves and Van Sickle had a pair in the second half. 

Westminster outshot Pitt-Bradford 23-7 and finished with a 16-4 shots on goal advantage. Westminster had eight corner kicks while Pitt-Bradford had two. 

Westminster opens its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule Wednesday when it travels to take on Waynesburg University. The match is scheduled to get underway at 8 p.m. at John F. Wiley Stadium.
