Westminster men win 4-3 thriller at Geneva

PATTERSON HEIGHTS, Pa.--The Westminster College men's tennis program earned a 4-3 victory over Geneva College at Brady's Run Park Thursday evening. 

Westminster improved to 2-2 overall while Geneva, playing its first match of the season, fell to 0-1.

Geneva secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Sophomores Hayden Kenny (Pittsburgh, Pa., Keystone Oaks) and Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) downed Ethan Mullen and Preston Daniels 6-3 at No. 3. It was the second win this fall for Kenny and Webster. 

Freshman Will Nebiolo (Glenshaw, Pa., Shaler) got Westminster's run in singles action started, winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 over Owen Landis. Junior Dunil Karunaratne (Johnstown, Pa., Westmont Hilltop) won 6-,4 6-3 at No. 6 against Simon Burkett to give the Titans a 2-1 advantage. After dropping matches at Nos. 2 and No. 4, Westminster trailed Geneva 3-2. Junior Ryan Crissman (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) posted a three-set win over David Clark at No. 1, winning 7-6 (4), 2-6, 10-3.  Kenny finished off the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Mullen at No. 5. He has won his last two singles matches.
