Westminster women fall at home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's soccer program suffered a 4-0 loss to John Carroll University Wednesday night at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

John Carroll snapped a two-match losing streak Wednesday, improving to 3-3. The Blue Streaks have won three of the last four meetings. Westminster fell to 1-4.

Abby Smith and Madyson Rosado each finished with a goal and assist for John Carroll. Smith scored off a Meredith Coloian assist in the 12th minute and Rosado scored off Smith's assist in the 34th minute. Emma West fired in an unassisted goal in the 40th minute. Up 3-0, Emily Patrzyk scored off of Rosado's assist in the 64th minute. 

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) logged nine saves in 70 minutes for Westminster. Sophomore Emily Codere (Shelton, Conn., Shelton) made a pair of saves in 20 minutes. Madeline Martin and Madison Skeese combined for the shutout. Martin made two saves in 73 minutes while Skeese had one in 17 minutes. 

John Carroll finished with a 25-13 edge in shots and put 15 shots on target compared to Westminster's three. John Carroll attempted eight corner kicks while Westminster had six. The Blue Streaks had a 7-2 advantage in second half corners.

Westminster hosts Ohio Wesleyan University Friday night. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
