Westminster earns first victory of season

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's tennis program, behind four double winners, secured a 6-1 victory over visiting Mount Aloysius College Sunday afternoon. 

Sunday's win was the first of the season for Westminster, now 1-2. Mount Aloysius fell to 0-2. 

Westminster snagged the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Junior Colin Fabich (Erie, Pa., Harbor Creek) and freshman William Nebiolo (Glenshaw, Pa., Shaler) defeated Matt Jacobs and Hunter Reed 6-3 at No. 2 while sophomores Hayden Kenny (Pittsburgh, Pa., Keystone Oaks) and Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) posted a 6-1 decision at No. 3 over Matthew Franz and Trent Strous.

Junior Colin Bork (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) defeated Tristen Ruffley 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Nebiolo won 6-0, 6-1 over Jacobs at No. 3. Fabich downed Franz 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 and Kenny scored a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5 against Reed. Webster nabbed a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Strous at No. 6.

Thursday, Westminster will travel to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Geneva College. Doubles action is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. at Brady's Run Park in Patterson Heights.
