Westminster men 9th after first round of The Gauntlet

LEWISBURG, Pa.--The Westminster College men's golf program sits in ninth place after Sunday's round at The Gauntlet, presented by Premier College Tournaments, and hosted by the Bucknell Golf Club.

Franklin & Marshall College leads the 14-team, 75-player event with a team score of 284. Gettysburg College, McDaniel College and Penn State Altoona are all tied for second (289). Westminster is currently in ninth place with a 297, a stroke back of last year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions, Allegheny College (296). The Titans combined for 12 birdies. 

Franklin & Marshall's Roy Anderson tops the leaderboard with six-under 64. Dickinson College's Collin McMahon-Shea after registering a five-under 65. 
 
Senior Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio, South Range) is one of seven players currently tied for 13th with a two-over 72. He finished the round with four birdies. Graduate student Kai Haseyama (Encinitas, Calif., San Dieguito Academy) is one of the eight players tied for 20th with a three-over 73 while senior Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) is one of nine tied for 35th with a five-over 75. Senior Joseph Trudeau (Ann Arbor, Mich., Skyline) is sitting in a five-way tie for 49th after a seven-over 77. Senior Portland Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) finished the round with an 85, tied with three overs for 70th.

Monday's final round is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
