Women's soccer falls at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio--The Westminster College women's soccer program fell to Heidelberg University 3-0 at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex Saturday afternoon.

Westminster fell to 1-3 overall. Heidelberg pushed its season record to 3-1-1.

Senior forward Allie Augustine (Cortland, Ohio, Lakeview) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 31st minute. It was Augustine's first goal since registering a goal and an assist in a 3-1 home victory over Allegheny College last September. 

Trailing at the break Heidelberg's Syd Hewer scored four minutes into the second half off an assist from Viviana Palmer. Caitlyn Cross scored off assists from Palmer and Mallory Zavatchen in the 67th minute. With eight minutes remaining, Alex Henning scored off a Hewer assist. 

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) played all 90 minutes and totaled seven saves. Brigid Enright also had seven saves in the win for Heidelberg. 

Heidelberg outshot Westminster 15-11 and had a 10-8 edge in shots on goal. Heidelberg had three corners while Westminster had a pair. Heidelberg totaled five fouls and Westminster had three. 

Westminster will host John Carroll University Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the UPMC Sports Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
