Trudeau's 2-under leads Titans Friday at Olivet

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.--Graduate student Joseph Trudeau (Ann Arbor, Mich., Skyline) led the Westminster College men's golf program with his two-under 70 during Friday's opening round of the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament, hosted by the University of Olivet at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, Mich.

Trudeau and Washington & Jefferson College's Andrew Platt are tied at the top of the 65-player field.

W&J leads the 10-team field with a team score of 296. Westminster is tied with Trine University for second after the programs each finished with a 299.

Seniors Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio, South Range) and Portland Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) are tied for 11th after both posted four-over 76s. Sophomore Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) sits in a five-way tie for 15th after carding a five-over 77 and senior Peter Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny), competing as an individual, is one of nine players tied for 26th after finishing with a seven-over 79. Senior Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) is in a four-way tie for 49th (81).

Saturday's second round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
