Westminster trailed 36-34 at the conclusion of a back-and-fourth first half, which featured seven ties and 10 lead changes. The Titans shot 44 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes but went to the free throw line just once. Thiel shot 36 percent in the first half, but made 10 of its 12 attempts from the free throw line and owned a 24-17 edge in rebounding at the break.

Weir totaled 10 points and six rebounds in the opening half. Wypasek, Kouros and freshman guard Jibri Carter Jr. (Youngstown, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) added six apiece in the first.

Thiel continued to control the game out of the break until freshman forward Michael Burbach (West Farmington, Ohio, Bristol) trimmed the deficit to two, 56-54, with under eight minutes to go. The Tomcats opened up a 11-point lead, 68-57, with just over four to play. Junior guard Jaxon Hendershott (Salem, Ohio, West Branch) drilled a three-pointer with just over two minutes left that cut Thiel's lead to nine. Thomas' three-point play 13 seconds later pushed the Tomcats' lead back to 11, 74-64. Wypasek knocked down a pair of free throws at the two-minute mark before Weir's dunk with a minute-and-a-half left brought the Titans back to within six, 74-68. Thomas made a pair of free throws with under a half-minute remaining to close out the scoring.
