Westminster rolls in three-setter against Bethany

Titans earn third seed, host W&J Tuesday

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball team cruised a three-set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over Bethany College Saturday night at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. 

Saturday was also Senior Recognition Night for Autumn Wheeler, the program's manager, defensive specialist Alyjah McHugh (Nashua, N.H., Nashua North) and right sides Elise Jordan (Key Largo, Fla., Coral Shores) and Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry).

Westminster wrapped its regular season 19-14 overall and 6-4 in the league. The Titans enter next week's PAC Championship Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will host fourth-seeded Washington & Jefferson College in Tuesday's quarterfinal round. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

Junior outside hitter Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) hit .256 with 12 kills, eight digs and a pair of service aces. Ferringer hit .429 with 11 kills while sophomore outside hitter Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) totaled nine kills and 19 digs. Junior setter Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) had a 17-assist, 10-dig double-double, her 16th this season. Freshman setter Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) had 16 assists and seven digs. Freshman libero Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) finished with 27 digs. Though 33 matches this season Gecina has totaled 521 digs (4.46/s).

Lesley Sanchez paced Bethany with nine kills. Talia Gallagher had 23 assists and 15 digs while Anna Taylor totaled 21 digs.
