Vilchek's goal propels top-seeded Westminster to PAC title match

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's soccer program advanced to the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament title match with a 1-0 victory over Saint Vincent College at the UPMC Sports Complex Wednesday night.

Westminster, the championship tournament's top seed, improved to 13-6-1. Saint Vincent, the fourth seed, concluded its season with an 11-5-1 record. The Bearcats' 11 wins this fall were the most in program history. It was Saint Vincent's first-ever appearance in the league's semifinal round.

With under six minutes left in regulation, sophomore midfielder Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville) drew a free kick outside of the center of the penalty area. After a right-footed runover from senior forward Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional), senior midfielder Natalie Vilchek (West Newton, Pa., Yough) scored the game-winner after delivering a left-footed strike to the upper middle of the net. It was her third goal this year and her fourth career game-winner.

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) got the win in net while making three saves. Wednesday's shutout was her fifth this season.

Rilyn Warner totaled a career-high 14 saves for Saint Vincent.

Westminster outshot Saint Vincent 28-6 and also finished with a 15-3 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster had six corner kicks while Saint Vincent had two.

Westminster will host No. 2 Grove City College Saturday. The Wolverines cruised to a 6-2 semifinal victory over No. 3 Allegheny College Wednesday. Saturday's title match at the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
