Westminster falls to Grove City in PAC finals

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The top-seeded Westminster College women's soccer program suffered a 4-3 loss to second-seeded Grove City College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament title match Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster's record fell to 11-6-1 while Grove City improved to 13-3-3. 

Grove City's Emma Dailey scored 12 minutes into the match off an assist from Lexi Zook. Emma Hermann scored unassisted two minutes after Dailey's goal.

Westminster netted two goals before halftime. Senior midfielder Natalie Vilchek (West Newton, Pa., Yough) scored in the 32nd minute, assisted by sophomore forward Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville), and senior forward Lydia Ohm (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Hills) scored in the 39th minute off an assist from senior forward Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) to level the game at 2-2. 

Tori Stevenson scored the first goal of the second half off a Hermann assist in the 64th minute. Erin Venus scored 10 minutes later off an assist from Natalie Merrick. Vilchek scored the final goal of the match unassisted in the 79th minute off a corner kick. 

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) finished the match with eight saves. Courtney Lisman earned the win with five saves. 

Vilchek and junior defender Alena Taladay (Ford City, Pa., Armstrong) were named to the PAC All-Tournament Team Saturday night. 

Grove City outshot Westminster 21-15 and had a 12-8 shots on goal advantage. Grove City had six corner kicks to Westminster's three.
