Westminster women fall at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's basketball program was dealt a 98-42 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss at Washington & Jefferson College Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster fell to 0-4 overall. Saturday was its conference opener after Wednesday's tilt at Bethany College was postponed. W&J improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the league. 

Freshman guard Katie Maryo (Cleveland, Ohio, Magnificat) led Westminster with 11 points, connecting on 4-of-9 field goals and 3-of-7 three-point field goal attempts. Junior forward Grace Cano (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) added five points off the bench. Senior forward Emily Hess (Edinboro, Pa., General McLane) and freshman forward Ella Kassan (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) had five rebounds apiece. 

W&J had five players finish in double figures. Stellanie Loutsion and Adalynn Cherry had 15 each. 

Westminster returns to action Tuesday against Grove City College. Tipoff at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
