WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's basketball program suffered a 69-67 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss at Washington & Jefferson College Saturday afternoon.

Westminster fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference. Saturday was the Titans' conference opener after Wednesday's tilt at Bethany College was postponed. W&J improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.

Westminster ran out to a 12-0 lead to begin the game. Junior guard Jaxon Hendershott (Salem, Ohio, West Branch) scored seven during the three-minute plus scoring spurt. W&J whittled the lead down to two, 28-26, with a 10-0 run and took a 32-31 lead on back-to-back buckets by Michael Plasko with just over three minutes left in the first. Junior guard Mick Hergenrother (Canfield, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney, Mount Union) knocked down a pair of free throws with 2:06 to go that lifted Westminster back in front by one, 33-32. The Presidents scored the final four points of the half and went into the break up three, 36-33.

Hendershott tied the game at 63-63 after hitting a pair of free throws 2:45 remaining in regulation. Following baskets by Nathan Plotner and Josh Chambers, W&J went up four, 67-63, with just over two to play. Junior guard Drew Weir (Salem, Ohio, Salem) trimmed the W&J to two, 67-65, with a layup with 1:40 to go. Quinton Burlenski made a pair of free throws with six seconds left to extend W&J's lead to four, 69-65, before freshman forward Michael Burbach (West Farmington, Ohio, Bristol) hit a jumper as time expired.

Hendershott paced Westminster with 18 points and seven rebounds. He finished 7-of-11 from the floor. Hergenrother added 14 points while Weir chipped in with 10. Hergenrother and Weir both finished 5-of-9 shooting.
