Westminster men win at Grove City

Hager medalist with even-par 72

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College men's golf program won the team title at Thursday's Grove City Fall Invitational while sophomore Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) shot an even-par 72 to claim medalist honors. 

The 17-team event was hosted by the Grove City Country Club. Westminster's "A" team fired a 10-over 298 to take home the team title. Geneva was second with a 311. Westminster's "B" team finished in eighth place with a 323. 

Hager topped the 102-player field with his 72. Senior Joe Trudeau (Ann Arbor, Mich., Skyline) tied for second place with a two-over 74. Graduate student Kai Haseyama (Encinitas, Calif., San Dieguito Academy) and senior Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio, South Range) were two of the nine players to shoot a 76, tying for sixth place. Senior Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) finished in a seven-way tie for 15th with a 77. 

Senior Portland Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) headlined the "B" team's finish with a 79, good for a eight-way tie for 29th. Sophomores Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) and Nathan Feltmeyer (Waterford, Pa., Fort Le Boeuf) were two of the nine players to tie for 37th after each carded an 80. Senior Peter Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) tied for 68th (84) and senior Logan Marnik (Carnegie, Pa., Chartiers Valley) tied for 73rd (85). 

Westminster will return to action Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 14-15 for the opening two rounds of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships, which will be contested at the Avalon Lakes Golf Course in Warren, Ohio.
