Westminster wins PAC match at Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va.--The Westminster College women's soccer program claimed a 2-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Bethany College Saturday afternoon at Hoag Field.

Westminster improved its record to 9-5-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the conference. Bethany fell to 7-6-3 overall and 4-4-1 in PAC play. 

Scoreless at the half, senior forward Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) scored the matches' first goal in the 85th minute. Senior forward Lydia Ohm (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Hills) scored the final goal of the match in the 87th off Horvath and junior midfielder Emma Maloberti (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) assists.

Horvath and Ohm both have eight goals on the season. Horvath's goal was her third game winner this fall. 

Junior Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) recorded her third shutout this year, totaling three saves. 

Westminster outshot Bethany 15-6 and had the shots on goal advantage (7-4). Each team had three corner kicks. 

Westminster closes out the regular season hosting Washington & Jefferson College Wednesday. Kickoff at the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
