Westminster drops five-setter at Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball program dropped a five set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match to Waynesburg University Saturday afternoon inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. 

Waynesburg improved to 6-14 overall and 2-5 in the PAC while Westminster fell to 17-11 overall and 4-2 in the league. 

Waynesburg claimed the opening set 25-21 before Westminster responded with a 25-21 second set win. Waynesburg won the third 25-23 and Westminster forced the deciding fifth set with its 25-20 win in the fourth. Waynesburg jumped out to a 4-0 lead and went up 10-3 before securing the 15-10 victory.

Junior outside hitter Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) finished with 15 kills and five digs. Sophomore outside hitter Liv Trent (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) hit .241 and finished with an 11-kill, 17-dig double-double while senior right side Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry) added 10 kills. Junior setter Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) totaled 28 assists and 15 digs while freshman setter Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) posted 12 assists and six digs. Freshman libero Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) had 17 digs.

Kristina Zadrozny hit .447 with a career-high 21 kills for Waynesburg. Riley Ruffey had 41 assists.
