Westminster suffers PAC loss at Saint Vincent

Latrobe, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball program suffered a 3-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss at Saint Vincent College's Robert S. Carey Center Wednesday night. 

Westminster fell to 15-10 overall and 2-1 in the league. Saint Vincent improved to 9-10 overall and 3-1 in conference action.

Saint Vincent claimed the match with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-22.

Junior middle hitter Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) hit .281 and finished with 12 kills and 2.0 blocks while junior outside hitter Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) added 11 kills and a block. Senior right side Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry) and sophomore right side Orlasia Hunter (Canton, Ohio, Saint Thomas Aquinas) finished with nine kills apiece. Ferringer added 3.5 blocks.

Westminster had a pair of setters, freshman Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) and junior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln), post double-doubles. O'Brien totaled 18 assists and 14 digs while Nardone had 14 assists and 13 digs. Freshman libero Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) had 30 digs and five assists in the loss. 

Meegan Williams posted a 21-kill, 24-dig double-double for Saint Vincent while Kaelyn Staples-Klasnic finished with a 20-kill, 19-dig double-double.

On Saturday, Westminster will host Geneva College during Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. The opening serve at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
