WARREN, Ohio--The Westminster College men sit in third place after the first two rounds of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Golf Championships.

The PAC's 36-hole fall event was hosted by the Avalon Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio Monday and Tuesday. The men completed a pair of rounds at Avalon Lakes in Warren.

Allegheny College, last year's conference champion, leads the nine-team field with a two-day score of 589 (295-294). Washington & Jefferson College is in second place with a 607 (304-303) while Westminster is third with a 623. The Titans followed Monday's 315 with a 308 on Tuesday.

Allegheny's Carter Hassenplug, the two-time defending PAC Player of the Year, captured fall medalist honors with a two-round score of 140 (67-73). He is a three-time fall medalist. Saint Vincent College's Matt Edwards is currently in second place with a 146 (71-75).

Seniors Joe Trudeau (Ann Arbor, Mich., Skyline) and Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) are two of four players that shot a 154 to tie for 11th. Trudeau was even on Tuesday (72) after turning in an 82 on Monday. He was one of four players to fire a 72 during the championship's second round. Ascencio followed up Monday's 78 with a 76. Sophomore Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) is 18th after posting a 157 (76-81) while senior Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio, South Range) and graduate student Kai Haseyama (Encinitas, Calif., San Dieguito Academy) are in a four-way tie for 23rd after each carded a 161. Batdorff shot an 82 Tuesday after Monday's 79 while Haseyama shot a 79 Tuesday after Monday's 82.

This year's PAC Championships features a 72-hole stroke play event, beginning with 36 holes played this fall and another 36 holes played Friday-Saturday, April 25-26 at Mill Creek Metroparks and the Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio. The men will play two rounds on the South Course in April. Five golfers will make up a team, with the lowest four scores per round from the designated five-player squad used in team score compilation.

The combined 72-hole team totals determine PAC team champions and winners of the league's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
