Horvath's brace highlights Westminster's win at Chatham

PITTSBURGH--Westminster College junior Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 3-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) shutout victory over Chatham at UPMC Graham Field. 

Westminster improved to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in the PAC. Chatham fell to 1-6-3 overall and 0-3-1 in the league. It was the program's sixth shutout this season. 

Horvath scored her first goal of the match in the 21st minute off of an assist from senior Sophia Galietta (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park). She tallied an unassisted score in the 45th minute to give the Titans a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Galietta netted her first goal of the season in the 90th minute. It was an unassisted score. Galietta's assist on Horvath's first goal was the first of her career. 

Horvath has nine goals this season. Saturday was her third match of the season scoring two or more goals. 

Sophomore Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) and junior Lauren Gross (Lewisburg, Pa., Lewisburg) shared the shutout. Murphy made four saves in 85 minutes.

Westminster held a 15-5 edge in shots while both sides finished with four shots on goal. The Titans had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. 

Westminster travels to Franciscan Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
