Westminster drops non-league tilt at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball team fell to Grove City College 3-1 Tuesday night at the Grove City College Arena. 

Westminster is now 7-4 this season, while Grove City moved to 12-3. 

Tuesday was the first of five matches against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foes that will not count in the league's standings. 

Grove City took the opening set 25-19 before Westminster bounced back with a 25-20 second set win. The Wolverines won the third set 25-15 and the fourth set 25-21. 

Senior Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) and sophomore Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) finished with 11 kills apiece. Lampus chipped in with 15 digs while Brady added 13 digs and two blocks. Sophomore Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Ellwood City) finished with 19 assists and four digs while senior Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) had 11 assists and seven digs. 

Senior Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa., North Allegheny) tied her season high with 22 digs. Senior Claire Tobin (Battlecreek, Mich., Lakeview) posted a season-high 14 digs. Sophomore Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) had five total blocks. 

Grove City was led by 14 kills from Alexis Standford and 13 kills from Anna DeGraaf.

Grove City hit .214, while Westminster hit .103. 

Westminster hosts Allegheny College Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
