Titans win PAC opener against Bearcats

LATROBE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's soccer team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a 1-0 shutout win at Saint Vincent College Tuesday afternoon.

Westminster improved to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the PAC. Saint Vincent fell to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference. 

The lone goal was scored three minutes into the match by freshman Chloe LaRosa (Tyrone, Pa., Tyrone) off of a corner kick taken by junior Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional).

LaRosa has scored 12 goals in seven matches this season, while Horvath has six assists. 

Sophomore Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) had six saves in the shutout. She has three shutouts and a .923 save percentage this season. 

Westminster finished with a 6-5 edge on corner kicks while Saint Vincent had more shots, 8-7, and shots on goal, 6-3.

Westminster will host Allegheny College in its PAC home opener on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
